Getting Started

How do I install Shutup Extensions?

Visit the Chrome Web Store (or Edge Add-ons for Microsoft Edge), search for "Shutup Extensions", and click "Add to Chrome". The extension works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, and Arc.

How do I whitelist extensions?

After installing, the options page opens automatically. You'll see all your installed extensions in a grid. Check the ones you want to keep running at all times. Click Save & Enable when done.

How does Shutup actually work?

When you click the Shutup icon in your toolbar, every extension that isn't on your whitelist gets disabled via the Chrome Management API. Your whitelisted extensions keep running. Click the icon again to see wake-up options.

What are the three wake-up modes?

Enable All restores every extension to its original state
Enable Selected Only re-enables only your whitelisted extensions
Disable All disables everything, including your whitelist

Pro Features

What do I get with Pro?

Pro adds per-website extension rules. Assign specific extensions to specific websites. YouTube gets your ad blocker, GitHub gets your dev tools. Extensions switch automatically as you move between tabs.

How does the 7-day free trial work?

Click "Start 7-day free trial" on the Domain Rules page. Full Pro features for 7 days, no credit card required. If you don't subscribe before the trial ends, you go back to the free tier.

How do I activate a license key?

After subscribing, you receive a license key by email. Open the options page, go to Account or Domain Rules, paste your key, and click Activate.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Log into PayPal, go to Settings > Payments > Manage Automatic Payments, find "Shutup Extensions", and cancel. Pro features stay active until the end of your billing period.

Can I get a refund?

Extensions aren't being disabled when I click Shutup

Make sure you've completed setup by clicking "Save & Enable" on the Extensions page first. Also check that the extensions aren't managed by your organization (those can't be toggled).

Domain rules aren't working

Domain rules require an active Pro subscription or trial. Check your status on the Account page. Make sure you've saved after adding domain rules.

What permissions does the extension need?

Management to list, enable, and disable other extensions
Storage to save your whitelist, domain rules, and preferences
System Memory to display RAM usage
Tabs to detect which website you're on for domain rules
Alarms for scheduled tasks like analytics collection

Privacy

What data does the extension collect?

By default, anonymous usage data: extension counts, browser version, Pro status. You can opt in to share extension names and domain rule domains. Disable analytics entirely in Settings. No browsing history, passwords, or personal data is ever collected.
